Head of Accounting

Location: Agomab Antwerp

We are looking for a Head of Accounting to expand our Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be a key contributor in building a dynamic accounting and finance organization dedicated to financial integrity and focused on supporting our growth strategy.

What will you do?

• Lead and manage the end-to-end accounting function, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Supervise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and review journal entries prepared by the accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting standards (BEGAAP) and local tax laws, including VAT and corporate tax filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation and submission of audit schedules and documentation.
• Drive the SAP S/4HANA accounting module, maintenance, and optimization.
• Prepare and deliver financial reports, statutory accounts, and tax filings.
• Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, technical memos, and position papers.
• Support consolidation processes, group reporting, and intercompany reconciliations
• Develop and update internal controls and accounting policies to meet regulatory and corporate standards.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation within the accounting function.

Who are you?

• You have a master’s degree in finance (or similar).
• At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 2 years of international experience.
• Excellent people management skills, is a real change manager and has a structured approach.
• A leaderships style that develops trust and respect.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP (BEGAAP), Belgian tax law, consolidation and IFRS.
• Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA in an accounting capacity.
• Willing to come to the Antwerp office at least two days per week.
• Background in biotechnology organizations with complex stakeholder, regulatory, or financial oversight requirements.
