Summary

Guardsquare is looking for an R&D Team Lead to join us in our Leuven office and lead one of our Leuven based DexGuard (Java) teams. In this role you will be responsible for a team of about 5 to 7 Java Software Engineers working within an agile software development environment. The ideal candidate started their career technically and has a good understanding of software engineering within a high‑tech start/scale‑up, and grew into or is now ready for a team lead role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the results delivered by your team. Lead day‑to‑day development; assign tasks, track progress, ensure timely delivery and high quality.
  • Mentor engineers, foster collaboration, and motivate the team to reach Bedrijf and personal objectives.
  • Set coding standards and best practices for maintainable solutions.
  • Work with product teams to translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Implement and enforce testing practices to deliver reliable software.
  • Encourage new ideas and own engineering processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent Guardsquare’s R&D values, its products and its culture.
Requirements
  • Masters in computer science with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong Java skills with low-level programming knowledge.
  • A no‑nonsense and pragmatic attitude, continuously raising the bar.
  • Excellent English communication.
  • Understanding the value of in‑person leadership in a hybrid work environment.
