We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution of Canary’s core products. This role combines hands‑on engineering with leadership responsibilities. You will oversee the development of our TEE‑based oracle backend, Solidity contracts, and supporting frontend tools, while building and mentoring a world‑class engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for Canary’s oracle and cross‑chain products.
• Lead development of backend services in Golang, focusing on high‑throughput, low‑latency performance.
• Guide the design and security of Solidity smart contracts, ensuring best practices and robust testing.
• Build and maintain systems leveraging Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), including enclave‑based price verification and attestation workflows.
• Establish engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with product, research, and partnerships teams to align technical execution with business goals.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow a high‑performing engineering team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong expertise in Golang for backend systems.
• Deep understanding of Solidity and Ethereum smart contract development.
• Experience working with TEEs (e.g., Intel SGX, AWS Nitro) and enclave security models.
• Proven ability to architect secure, scalable distributed systems.
• Familiarity with DeFi, oracles, and cross‑chain infrastructure is a strong plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

• Coding Test A practical exercise focused on core skills relevant to the role, including Golang, Solidity, and system design fundamentals. This will help us understand your technical depth and problem‑solving approach.
• Coding Review A live session where you walk us through your solution. We’ll discuss design decisions, trade‑offs, and areas for improvement to evaluate clarity of thought, code quality, and security awareness.
• Team Call A call with key members of the engineering and product teams. This is an opportunity to assess cultural fit, leadership style, and collaboration approach, as well as give you a chance to meet future teammates.
• Final Chat with Founder A closing conversation with our founder to discuss the broader vision of Canary, your role in shaping it, and to answer any remaining questions from either side.
